The most famous museum of Rotterdam, which exhibits art from the Middle Ages to nowadays. It's collection contains a.o. works by Bruegel, Rembrandt, Rubens, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Monet, Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali. The Museum is named after two art lovers who gave their collections to the town of Rotterdam.
Het meeste beroemde museum in Rotterdam, dat kunst toont van de Middeleeuwen tot nu. Het Museum is genoemd naar twee kunstliefhebbers die hun collecties aan de stad Rotterdam gaven.

This small museum is situated opposite the famous Boymans van Beuningen Museum in a former house which was built in 1938 by architects G.W. Baas and L. Stokla. The second floor of this house was built in 1976. The Museum was opened in 1993 and exhibits the works (paintings, sculptures) of artist Hendrik (Henk) Chabot (august 2, 1894 - may 2, 1949).
Dit kleine museum ligt tegenover het beroemde Boymans van Beuningen Museum en is gevestigd in een voormalige woning die in 1938 werd gebouwd door de architekten G.W. Baas en L. Stokla. In 1976 werd de tweede verdieping toegevoegd. Het werd geopend in 1993 en stelt de werken tentoon van de kunstenaar Hendrik (Henk) Chabot (2 augustus 1894 - 2 mei 1949).

At Scheepswerf (shipyard) 'De Delft' you can see the construction of 'De Delft', a eighteen-century ship. Not far from the spot in Delfshaven where the original ship was built. This original ship, which was 63 meters long, 63 meters high and 13.5 meters broad, went under in the 'Battle of Camperduin' against the English in 1797 and was discovered at about 200 years later by a fisherman from the Dutch town of Scheveningen. There were found a lot of objects in the wreck, which are now displayed at this shipyard. In 2001 the construction was started and it will take seven or eight years untill the job is done.
In het Scheepswerf 'De Delft' kunt u het opbouwen zien van 'De Delft', een schip uit de 18e eeuw. Niet ver van de plek in Delfshaven waar het originele schip gebouwd is. Dit originele schip van 63 meter lang, 63 meter hoog en 13,5 meter breed, ging ten onder tijdens de Slag bij Camperduin tegen de Engelsen in 1797 en werd ongeveer 200 jaar later ontdekt door een visser uit Scheveningen. Er werden in het wrak veel voorwerpen gevonden, die nu op het scheepswerf tentoongesteld worden. In 2001 is de herbouw gestart en het zal zeven of acht jaar duren voordat het schip klaar is.

This small museum was opened for the public in 1988. It has a large collection historical objects, photographs and pictures of the Rotterdam district of Overschie. The outdoor part of the museum features a couple of historical buildings, two meadows and some gardens. The exposition room 'De Melkfabriek' (The Milk factory) adjoins the museum and contains a authentic tabacco shop.
Dit kleine museum is geopend in 1988. Het heeft een grote verzameling historische objecten, foto's en schilderijen met betrekking tot Overschie. Het Buitenmuseum omvat diverse historische gebouwtjes, twee weilanden en verschillende tuinen. De Expositieruimte 'De Melkfabriek' ligt tegen het museum aan en huisvest ook een authentiek tabakswinkeltje.

Next to the Dutch Architecture Institute (Nai) is Huis Sonneveld, built in 1933 by architects Brinkman and Van der Vlugt. The architects didn't just create the building itself, but also the interior and the furniture. In 2001 the house was restored to it's old glory.
Naast het Nederlands Architectuur Instituut (Nai) staat Huis Sonneveld, dat in 1933 gebouwd werd door de architecten Brinkman en Van der Vlugt. De architecten ontwierpen niet alleen het gebouw, maar ook het interieur en de meubels. In 2001 werd het huis gerestaureerd en in zijn oude staat teruggebracht.

First opened to the public in 1874, this museum had it's location on the Willemskade, where nowadays the Wereldmuseum is located. In 1948 the Maritime Museum together with the Wereldmuseum moved to the Burgemeester 's-Jacobplein. In 1986 the Maritime Museum moved on to it's present location. In this building by architect Quist you can see models of ships, maps, paintings and anything on maritime life. The largest ship model is more than 4 meters long and is of the passenger ship Volendam of the Holland America Line.
Toen het Museum voor het eerst voor het publiek open ging was het nog gevestigd aan de Willemskade, waar nu het Wereldmuseum zit. In 1948 verhuisde het Maritiem Museum samen met het Museum van Land- en Volkenkunde (nu: Wereldmuseum naar het Burgemeester 's-Jacobplein. In 1986 verhuisde het Maritiem Museum naar zijn huidige locatie. In dit gebouw van architect Quist kunt u modellen van schepen zien, plattegronden, schilderijen en van alles dat met scheepvaart te maken heeft. Het grootste scheepsmodel is meer dan 4 meter lang en is van het passagiersschip Volendam van de Holland Amerika Lijn.

Since 1998 a collection of steam trains which are being restored on the spot by volunteers from Stoom Stichting Nederland. The building "Perron 1" is build after a railwaydepot from last centuries' twenties. The Dutch railwaycompany stopped using steamtrains in 1957.
Sinds 1998 wordt op deze plek een verzameling stoomtreinen ter plekke gerestaureerd door vrijwilligers van Stoom Stichting Nederland. Het Perron 1 is gebouwd naar een spoorwegdepot uit de jaren twintig van de vorige eeuw. Het Nederlandse spoor stopte met het gebruik van stoomtreinen in 1957.

The Museum of Natural History is settled in Villa Dijkzigt (1852). When you encounter the museum from the Museumpark, on the right you'll see the modern wing - which was built in 1995 - with the eyecatcher of the museum: the 15 meters long skeleton of a sperm whale. This museum offers changing exhibitions on natural history and has a special interest in nature in the city.
Het Natuurmuseum is gevestigd in Villa Dijkzigt uit 1852. Als je het museum vanuit het Museumpark nadert zie je in de in 1995 aangebouwde moderne vleugel de blikvanger van het museum hangen: het skelet van een potvis van 15 meter lang. In het museum vind je o.a. opgezette dieren. Het museum biedt wisselende tentoonstellingen rond natuurhistorie en heeft speciale aandacht voor de natuur in de stad.

The Schielandhuis is a building dating from the 17th century and is the location of the Historic Museum, which tells he history of the city of Rotterdam. Atlas van Stolk is named after 19th century wood trader Abraham van Stolk, who in 1835 started collecting historic prints of the local history. The museum shows parts of this collection in temporary exhibitions.
The Museum has a restaurant "De Pappegay" (The parrot), a coffeecorner and a shop.
Het Schielandhuis is een gebouw dat dateert uit de 17de eeuw en huisvest het historisch museum, dat de geschiedenis van Rotterdam vertelt. Atlas van Stolk is genoemd naar de houthandelaar Abraham van Stolk uit de 19de eeuw, die in 1835 begon met het verzamelen van historische prenten over de vaderlandse geschiedenis. De collectie wordt in wisselende exposities getoond.
Het museum heeft een restaurant "De Pappegay", een koffiehoek en een winkel.

This museum is located in a former depository of the NS (Dutch transport by rail). It shows a permanent exhibition of radio's, TV's and record players. Every half a year there is a special exhibition.

The Wereldmuseum is formerly known as the Museum voor Land- en Volkenkunde and was opened in 1885. It is located on the bank of the River Maas. It's collection is divided by the continents: Asia, America, Oceania and Africa. The museum has a nice little souvenirshop.
