Story: High school English teacher Howard Brackett is outed as a gay man by former student Cameron Drake while accepting an Academy Award. Howard, who is about to get married to Emily, denies to fiancé, family, friends and press. One openly gay reporter, Peter Malloy, wants Howard to drop the facade and be the new "Ellen," a spokesperson for gay folks everywhere. But Howard's not gay. Or is he? Even Howard isn't quite sure anymore. He meets a few of the "qualifications", like being thin and neat, and enjoying dancing, and being single for too many years.
Story rumored to be loosely based upon Tom Hanks acceptance speech when receiving his Academy Award for "Philadelphia"
