Story: Eli and Tom tell the story of their broken love affair that began with a blind date fixed by their two best friends, Brett and Jackie.
These two men couldn't be from more different worlds. Eli was raised by therapist parents who encouraged him at an early age to say 'penis' and 'vagina' at the dinner table. Tom is devoted to drinking, smoking and promiscuous sexual encounters, learned to mix a perfect martini at the age of 10. Their blind date is a disaster. Despite a small spark of attraction by the end of the evening, both men are convinced that each hated the other. However the two run into each the next weekend at a local flea market and they share a bit of their backgrounds and begin to connect. They have sex, but Eli is confused the next morning when Tom treats their intimacy as if it were a one-night stand. Tom and Eli continue to see each other, but after a while they decide to break things off. Soon it becomes obvious to everyone but Tom and Eli that they are miserable apart.
Verhaal: Eli en Tom vertellen het verhaal van hun verbroken liefdesaffaire die begon met een blind date die geregeld was door hun beste vrienden, Brett en Jackie. De twee mannen komen uit twee verschillende werelden; Eli is opgegroeid door ouders die therapist waren en op jonge leeftijd hebben geleerd om vrij te praten over "penis" en "vagina". Tom is verslaafd aan drank, roken en korte seksuele contacten, en leerde op zijn tiende jaar al een perfecte Martini te mixen. Hun blind date is een ramp. Ondanks een klein beetje aantrekking tussen hen beiden zijn ze er beide van overtuigd dat de ander hem haat. Maar wanneer de twee elkaar het volgende weekend tegen komen op de plaatselijke vlooienmarkt wisselen ze meer uit over hun achtergronden en er begint zich iets te ontwikkelen. Ze hebben seks met elkaar, maar Eli is de volgende ochtend verbaasd als Tom hun intimiteit behandeld als een one-night affaire. Tom en Eli blijven elkaar zien, maar na een tijdje geven ze hun relatie op. Het wordt snel duidelijk dat iedereen ziet dat ze niet zonder elkaar kunnen, maar zij zelf niet.
