Story: Documentary about the rise and fall of a legendary Theatre group from 1969 to 1972 in San Francisco, where the men performed in drag at the Palace Theatre. They created 20 shows with titles like "Journey to the centre of Uranus", "Pearls over Shanghai", "Gone with the Showboat to Oklahoma" and "Tinsel Tarts in a Hot Coma". One of the members was Sylvester who later became a disco star (You make me feel mighty real).
